Date(s) - 02/18/2017
12:30 pm - 3:00 pm
You are invited to attend our first Indivisible San Antonio – District 20 meeting. Our featured speaker and guest will be Mary Moreno, a long-time activist who was trained in Chicago by the same group that trained Barack Obama in grassroots organizing. She has also given workshops at the UN on grassroots organizing.
She will be talking about how to get into the right mindset (and or heart-set) for the long road ahead, how to connect as a group in whatever group you are in and the importance of this step in effective organizing. Moreover, how to move beyond anxiety and reaction into discernment and finally into intentional, power-based action. She is a veritable shaman of activism with years of experience.
Date: Saturday, February 18, 2017
Time: 12:30 – 3:00 pm
Place: 4322 Fig Tree Woods, San Antonio, 78249
This is a great opportunity to meet some interesting people who are coming together for a common purpose. You’ll learn how to sustain your motivation and have better conversations with people who might not share your views. You’ll begin to learn from Mary, that activism is as much about building bridges as it is about combat. You’ll begin to see activism as a personal growth experience that can help you learn life skills as well as political skills.
We’ll put some hot dogs on the grill and supply the buns, mustard and relish. We’ll throw in some chips and bottled water. Please feel free to bring a side dish if you like and your beverage of choice.
We only have room for a maximum of 30 people on our large outdoor patio, so I will have to limit this first meeting to the first 30 people who register.
Bookings are closed for this event.
